This study reports process data on everyday life in an NHS hospital and two nursing homes for elderly people. The interviews revealed low expectations of respondents, although observational data confirmed the superior quality of life in the nursing homes. The responses of the elderly people, however, do illustrate the types of activity they would like to engage in to improve their quality of life.
