The heart in cardiomyopathy: a postmortem study.

Thirty-five consecutive cases of cardiomyopathy were studied at postmortem examination. The morbid anatomical changes found in the heart are described, with particular reference to ventricular hypertrophy. Contrary to most views, right ventricular predominance is found to be common in cardiomyopathy as seen in Blacks in and around Durban. No apparent couse for predominant right ventricular hypertrophy was found in this study.
