Day-care and especially short-stay surgery were found attractive logistics for surgery of the hand, inguinal hernia repair, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, invasive measures for tumor staging such as diagnostic laparoscopy and implantation of vascular ports for chemotherapy. This new way of surgical organization is a practical alternative to overcome increasing limitations of hospitalization capacities and to conserve everyday surgery which is necessary for the teaching of students and surgical beginners within otherwise highly specialized institutions.
日间护理，尤其是短期住院手术，对手部手术、腹股沟疝修补术、腹腔镜胆囊切除术、肿瘤分期的侵入性措施（如诊断性腹腔镜检查和植入化疗血管端口）来说，被认为是有吸引力的后勤安排。这种新的手术组织方式是一种切实可行的替代方案，以克服住院能力日益增加的限制，并保留日常手术，而日常手术对于在其他高度专业化机构中教学的学生和外科新手来说是必要的。
