This study was undertaken to evaluate ion beam-assisted deposition (IBAD) of hydroxyapatite (HA) on the grit-blasted surface of endosseous dental implants 6 weeks postplacement.
A total of 40 implants was placed in the tibiae of 10 New Zealand white rabbits. Twenty implants were grit-blasted only and the other 20 were grit-blasted and coated with HA by the IBAD method. After 6 weeks of healing, the rabbits were sacrificed and removal torque tests, histomorphometry, and morphometric analysis of microtomographic images were performed.
The HA-coated group showed significantly higher removal torque, bone-to-implant contact, and bone volume than the other group.
In a previous study, the authors suggested that HA coating deposited on a machined surface by the IBAD method showed results comparable to or more favorable than the results obtained with a blasted surface. This study indicated that the HA coating produced by the IBAD method was also very effective on the aluminum oxide-blasted surface, as demonstrated by the early formation of osseointegration. Morphometric analysis by microtomography showed some promise in measuring the osseointegration rate. (More than 50 references.)
本研究旨在评估种植后6周时,羟基磷灰石(HA)在牙种植体喷砂表面的离子束辅助沉积(IBAD)情况。
将40枚种植体植入10只新西兰白兔的胫骨中。20枚种植体仅进行喷砂处理,另外20枚种植体先进行喷砂处理,然后通过IBAD方法涂覆HA。愈合6周后,处死兔子并进行移除扭矩测试、组织形态计量学分析以及显微断层图像的形态计量分析。
HA涂层组的移除扭矩、骨与种植体接触面积以及骨体积均显著高于另一组。
在先前的一项研究中,作者表明通过IBAD方法沉积在机械加工表面的HA涂层,其结果与喷砂表面相当或更优。本研究表明,通过IBAD方法制备的HA涂层在氧化铝喷砂表面同样非常有效,骨结合的早期形成证明了这一点。显微断层扫描的形态计量分析在测量骨结合率方面显示出一定的前景。(参考文献超过50篇。)
