The objective of this study was to evaluate the success of fat graft myringoplasty and to discuss the utilities and advantages of a fat graft in primary versus revision myringoplasties.
Eighteen patients who had not had previous otological surgery, and twelve patients whose tympanic membrane perforations have persisted despite myringoplasty with temporalis fascia were included in this prospective clinical trial. All patients were treated by fat graft myringoplasty and followed up for one year.
Successful closure of the perforation was obtained in 82.4 per cent of the ears at the final follow up. The success rate in the group of patients who had not had previous otological surgery was higher than those of revision cases.
Adipose tissue provides the basic requirements for grafting of the tympanic membrane, with its own favourable characteristics. Fat graft myringoplasty is a cost-effective alternative in small perforations of the tympanic membrane, including revision cases.
本研究的目的是评估脂肪移植鼓膜成形术的成功率，并讨论脂肪移植在初次鼓膜成形术与翻修鼓膜成形术中的效用和优势。
18例未曾接受过耳科手术的患者，以及12例尽管采用颞肌筋膜进行鼓膜成形术但鼓膜穿孔仍持续存在的患者被纳入这项前瞻性临床试验。所有患者均接受脂肪移植鼓膜成形术，并随访一年。
在最后一次随访时，82.4%的耳朵穿孔成功闭合。未曾接受过耳科手术的患者组的成功率高于翻修病例组。
脂肪组织具备鼓膜移植的基本要求，且具有自身的有利特性。脂肪移植鼓膜成形术是鼓膜小穿孔（包括翻修病例）的一种经济有效的替代方法。
