Sputum bacteriological analysis of cystic fibrosis (CF) patients colonised by Pseudomonas aeruginosa is difficult. The bronchial persistence of these bacteria involves phenotypical modifications and the many antibiotic treatments result in emergence of multiresistant strains. The aim of this study is to evaluate a new fast identification and sensitivity testing method of P. aeruginosa and other pathogenic bacteria in sputum of CF patients. It is based on applying a gradient of antibiotic (E-test strip) onto an agar plate inoculated with the sputum.
310 sputum, collected from adults and children colonised by P. aeruginosa, were analysed by this new method. This method allowed a direct reading of the minimal concentration of antibiotic that inhibited the totality of Gram-negative strains and the detection of resistant pathogenic bacteria inside the ellipse of inhibition. Results obtained by this new method were compared with the conventional method for identification and antimicrobial sensitivity.
This new method, studying with CF patient colonised by P. aeruginosa, appears interesting, with a sensibility equal or higher than 89% in detection of the bacteria and their sensitivity to antibiotics. Furthermore it allows a saving of time and simplified results.
对被铜绿假单胞菌定植的囊性纤维化(CF)患者进行痰液细菌学分析较为困难。这些细菌在支气管中的持续存在涉及表型改变,且多种抗生素治疗导致多重耐药菌株的出现。本研究的目的是评估一种用于CF患者痰液中铜绿假单胞菌及其他病原菌的新型快速鉴定和药敏试验方法。该方法基于将抗生素梯度(E-test试纸条)应用于接种痰液的琼脂平板上。
采用这种新方法对310份来自被铜绿假单胞菌定植的成人和儿童的痰液进行了分析。该方法能够直接读取抑制所有革兰氏阴性菌株的抗生素最低浓度,并检测抑菌圈内的耐药病原菌。将这种新方法获得的结果与传统的鉴定和药敏方法进行了比较。
这种针对被铜绿假单胞菌定植的CF患者的新方法似乎很有意义,在检测细菌及其对抗生素的敏感性方面,敏感性等于或高于89%。此外,它节省了时间且结果更简单。
