A 63-year-old man presented in the summer of 1999 with eczematous skin lesions predominantly in sun-exposed areas. Based on the history, clinical picture and results of the diagnostic procedures, he was diagnosed with chronic actinic dermatitis. Therapy with sunscreens, topical and oral corticosteroids and systemic PUVA was unsuccessful. Initiation of immunosuppression with mycophenolate mofetil (500 mg b.i.d.) led to complete resolution of the skin lesions within several weeks.
