A concise review is presented of epidemiological, family- and genetic studies in anxiety disorders. Special emphasis is given to recent developments in the classification of anxiety disorders. The literature in which a more central role of panic attacks is suggested, is critically reviewed. Based upon the studies reviewed it is questionable whether the diagnosis agoraphobia without panic attacks is justified.
本文对焦虑症的流行病学、家族及遗传学研究进行了简要综述。特别强调了焦虑症分类方面的最新进展。对那些认为惊恐发作起更核心作用的文献进行了批判性综述。基于所综述的研究，无惊恐发作的广场恐惧症的诊断是否合理值得怀疑。
