The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of hypothyroidism on oxidative modification of low density lipoprotein (LDL).
24 patients with overt hypothyroidism and 10 patients with mild hypothyroidism were enrolled to the study. The control group consisted of 24 healthy subjects with normal serum TSH. Plasma level of oxidized LDL (oxLDL) and serum level of antibodies against oxidized LDL (anti-oxLDL) determined lipoprotein oxidation.
Significantly increased plasma oxLDL levels were found in patients with overt hypothyroidism in comparison to patients with mild hypothyroidism and control group. Anti-oxLDL levels in patients with overt or mild hypothyroidism and in the control group showed no significant differences. OxLDL plasma levels in patients with hypothyroidism inversely correlated with FT(4) levels and positively correlated with TSH, total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and triglycerides levels.
The presented study indicates increased lipoprotein oxidation in patients with hypothyroidism which depends on the degree of hypothyroidism and changes in lipid profile. Elevated cholesterol and triglycerides levels are the factors increasing lipoprotein oxidation. Plasma oxLDL levels may constitute a useful marker indicating the risk for atherosclerosis in hypothyroidism.
本研究旨在评估甲状腺功能减退对低密度脂蛋白(LDL)氧化修饰的影响。
本研究纳入了24例显性甲状腺功能减退患者和10例轻度甲状腺功能减退患者。对照组由24名血清促甲状腺激素(TSH)正常的健康受试者组成。通过测定氧化LDL(oxLDL)的血浆水平和抗氧化LDL抗体(抗oxLDL)的血清水平来评估脂蛋白氧化情况。
与轻度甲状腺功能减退患者和对照组相比,显性甲状腺功能减退患者的血浆oxLDL水平显著升高。显性或轻度甲状腺功能减退患者及对照组的抗oxLDL水平无显著差异。甲状腺功能减退患者的oxLDL血浆水平与游离甲状腺素(FT4)水平呈负相关,与TSH、总胆固醇、低密度脂蛋白胆固醇和甘油三酯水平呈正相关。
本研究表明,甲状腺功能减退患者的脂蛋白氧化增加,这取决于甲状腺功能减退的程度和血脂谱的变化。胆固醇和甘油三酯水平升高是增加脂蛋白氧化的因素。血浆oxLDL水平可能是提示甲状腺功能减退患者动脉粥样硬化风险的有用标志物。
