The clinical transplant program at the First Clinical Hospital in CMU includes renal, hepatic, pancreatic-renal and hepatic-renal transplantation and is supervised by experienced transplant surgeons, transplant physicians and one laboratory team. Our center has formed a systematic management model for multi-organ transplantation. We maintain a laboratory for HLA testing and immunological monitoring in accordance with international standards, have a computerized network database to collect and store patient information, provide individualized treatment, direct postoperative care and healing and insist upon long-term patient tracking and clinical follow-up. By the end of 2005, we had performed 604 kidney transplantations, 122 liver transplantations, 22 simultaneous pancreas-kidney transplantations (SPK) and 4 combined liver and kidney transplantations. The one- and 5-year kidney graft survival rates were 96% and 84%, respectively.
