Estimation of serum lipids and apolipoproteins drew attention to some important changes of their values during this age period. In both sexes there is a marked decline of LDL cholesterol (and thus also of total cholesterol) and of apo B. Girls have higher values of serum triacylglycerols and as compared with boys, their apo A is more closely related to total cholesterol levels than to HDL cholesterol. The different skinfold thickness of the children did not affect the values of the assessed parameters. The authors consider for the group of examined children the following values as pathological: cholesterol greater than 5.2 mmol/l, HDL cholesterol less than 0.9 mmol/l, triacylglycerols greater than 1.5 mmol/l, apo A less than 1.6 g/l and apo B greater than greater than 1.2 g/l. The results are consistent with recent results of other local authors.
