Bony resorption was a characteristic radiogram finding in a series of 25 cases of dumb-bell orbital dermoid, and a definitive diagnosis of the nature and locality of the tumor could be done by ultrasonography, CT, or MRI. In all the 25 cases, the mass was lodged between the orbit and the temporal fossa, the frontal sinus, or the cranial fossa like a dumb-bell. The authors emphasized the use of X-ray, ultrasonography, CT or MRI before operation, and thorough clearance of the cystic and fistula wall with cauterization by carbolic acid was imperative for the prevention of recurrences.
骨质吸收是25例哑铃状眼眶皮样囊肿系列病例中的特征性X线表现，通过超声、CT或MRI可对肿瘤的性质和位置做出明确诊断。在所有25例病例中，肿块位于眼眶与颞窝、额窦或颅窝之间，呈哑铃状。作者强调术前应使用X线、超声、CT或MRI检查，为预防复发，必须彻底清除囊肿和瘘管壁并用石炭酸烧灼。
