Beyond recognition of patient's autonomy, isn't the main stake of advanced directives patient's and doctor's integrity? This article tests this hypothesis by analysing the multiple dimensions of integrity: physical integrity, existential coherence, moral integrity enlightened by Canguilhem's, Bruaire's, Ey's, Gauchet's, Taylor's and Ricoeur's philosophical approaches.
