[Quality assurance in nursing care--a challenge for nurses].

This brief review deals with quality assurance trends and approaches. The meaning of key words involved in the process of quality assurance are explained. Methodological weaknesses by up to now used tools are discussed and the search for a new general tool ensuring validity and reliability which has been undertaken by nurse-researches is presented.
