Urothelial carcinoma in an ectopic ureter.

We treated a 72-year-old man with a rare urothelial carcinoma arising in a left ectopic ureter with renal dysgenesis. By magnetic resonance imaging and transurethral resection, the patient was diagnosed with urothelial carcinoma arising from a left ectopic ureter draining from a dysgenetic kidney into the prostate urethra. We performed a left total nephroureterectomy with a radical prostatectomy. The distal ureter drained into the prostate. The surgical specimen showed a papillary tumor in the distal ureter. Histopathologic examination revealed G2 pT1 urothelial carcinoma of the ureter. Two years postoperatively, the patient is alive without recurrence.
