Literature and experimental data are reviewed on functional properties of cation proteins in neutrophil granulocytes under conditions of phagocytosis and inflammation. These proteins are not only effective antimicrobial agents but they regulate a lot of protective-adaptational reactions responsible for development of human and animal unspecific resistance.
