Ischaemic cutaneous gangrene is described in a 44-year-old female patient. It was found to be attributable to metastatic calcinosis following secondary hyperparathyroidism. Recovery was obtained by means of subtotal parathyroidectomy combined with local treatment. The designation "uremic gangrene syndrome" is recommended for this characteristic syndrome.
