The administration of enteral nutrition preparations using infusion pumps has become the most adviceable method of choice in order to avoid gastrointestinal disturbances, especially when high-osmolarity diets are administered. Flow rate may be regulated and adjusted to the patient's individual needs with these pumps. In this study the exact flow rate of three infusion pumps has been evaluated. The results showed that the pumps studied keep a safe and reliable infusion flow rate over a period of 4-5 hours.
