[Recent developments in inpatient treatment of alcoholic patients].

In psychiatric district hospitals, alcoholism still is one of the most frequent diagnoses. For multiple clinical patterns of alcoholism the establishment of an alcohol ward with differentiated treatment facilities is recommended. These facilities should be supplemented by outpatient units for addicts for the stabilisation of treatment progress and supportive intervention in case of crises.
