[Program for reducing infant mortality in the Uzbek SSR].

A causal analysis of neonatal mortality has been done in the Uzbek SSR in terms of the socioeconomic life, sociohygienic culture, state of the biosphere, demographic characteristics, and medical care of the population. A complex scientific-practical programme of improvement of mother and child care, that has been introduced in the republic, allowed for stabilization of maternal mortality rates, reduction in preterm births, and for the general decrease in neonatal mortality rates.
