In the second part of this paper we review the potential side effects of orally administrated bile acids as well as recurrences after dissolution. We also discuss two new methods of medical treatment for cholelithiasis: the percutaneous instillation of contact solvents, particularly methyl-tert-butyl-ether and lithotripsy with external shock waves.
