The H2-receptor blocker famotidine can be recommended for use for stress ulcer prophylaxis in patients who have undergone a heart transplantation. Its very good therapeutic effect and unproblematical pharmacokinetics with no disturbance of cyclosporine A kinetics are points that favor further use of famotidine in heart-transplant patients.
