This study was conducted to detect microbial pathogens in conjunctival mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma specimens in an attempt to determine possible associations between conjunctival MALT lymphoma and microbial infections.
MATERIAL/METHODS: Using PCR technique, freshly obtained tumor specimens from 16 cases of conjunctival MALT lymphoma, as confirmed by postoperative pathology, were analyzed for DNA of Chlamydia psittaci (C. psittaci), Chlamydia trachomatis (C. trachomatis), Chlamydia pneumoniae (C. pneumoniae) and Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). Synthetic C. psittaci, C. trachomatis, C. pneumoniae and H. pylori DNA were used as positive control, and blank plasmid DNA as negative control.
Electrophoresis showed that no bands corresponding to the positive control were observed in the specimens, indicating that no DNA of the 4 microorganisms was detected in the specimens of the 16 cases of conjunctival MALT lymphoma.
The PCR technique was able to detect the positive control quickly and accurately, but the results of PCR in analyzing the 16 specimens were negative, indicating that there is no association between conjunctival MALT lymphoma and the 4 microorganisms in Chinese patients.
本研究旨在检测结膜黏膜相关淋巴组织(MALT)淋巴瘤标本中的微生物病原体,试图确定结膜 MALT 淋巴瘤与微生物感染之间的可能关联。
材料/方法:采用聚合酶链反应(PCR)技术,对术后病理证实的 16 例结膜 MALT 淋巴瘤新鲜肿瘤标本进行鹦鹉热衣原体(C. psittaci)、沙眼衣原体(C. trachomatis)、肺炎衣原体(C. pneumoniae)和幽门螺杆菌(H. pylori)的 DNA 分析。合成的 C. psittaci、C. trachomatis、C. pneumoniae 和 H. pylori DNA 用作阳性对照,空白质粒 DNA 用作阴性对照。
电泳显示,16 例结膜 MALT 淋巴瘤标本中均未观察到与阳性对照相对应的条带,表明这 4 种微生物的 DNA 均未在标本中检测到。
PCR 技术能够快速准确地检测阳性对照,但对 16 个标本的 PCR 分析结果为阴性,表明结膜 MALT 淋巴瘤与中国患者的这 4 种微生物之间没有关联。
