Between 1976 and 1988, 16 patients underwent a Whipple resection or total pancreatectomy for carcinoma of the head of the pancreas, the ampulla of Vater or the distal common bile duct. Nine patients had carcinoma of the pancreas. Two of these patients are long-term survivors. The tumors in these patients were highly differentiated and localized close to the common bile duct. Four had ampullary lesions, and are all alive today. Three patients had carcinoma of the common bile duct. One of these patients is alive.
1976年至1988年间，16例患者因胰头癌、Vater壶腹癌或胆总管远端癌接受了Whipple手术或全胰切除术。9例患者患有胰腺癌。其中2例为长期存活者。这些患者的肿瘤分化程度高，且位于胆总管附近。4例患有壶腹病变，目前均存活。3例患有胆总管癌。其中1例存活。
