This paper presents an analysis of the relevance of the formation of human resources trained in health sciences as an essential strategy for sustainability projects applied to health schemes. A solid linkage is required between training and application aspects through the transfer of knowledge in concrete actions.
A series of actions aimed to improve the quality and coverage in health services has been proposed. However, the treatment given to education and training in human resources has not been in the same proportion. As a consequence, the formation of qualified human resources represents one of the fundamental axes to perform these actions in health fields.
Training of human resources for health provided by educational institutions must not be separate from global decisions in health fields. Evidence shows that the higher density, quality and appropriate distribution of health workforce, the greater the impact on public health in an efficient manner. This rubric must be considered as a priority, achieving the training of professionals with leadership and with the ability of transforming their environment before the predictions about potential collapses in health systems are presented as an emerging challenge.
