Based on a comprehensive review of the literature with special reference to methodology of the studies, the author observes a causality between laryngeal carcinoma and occupational asbestos exposure. It is suggested that under special circumstances a laryngeal carcinoma should be approved as an occupational disease in relation to asbestos exposure in the Federal Republic of Germany.
