Ethics and research.

Research subjects have the right to self-determination, informed consent, confidentiality and privacy, and freedom from harm. The use of coercion, such as a threat of harm, or excessive reward to influence subject participation in research is unethical. The benefits and risks related to participating in a research study should be disclosed to all subjects. In order to conduct the study, the benefits should exceed the risks.
