As nursing leaders retire and leave the profession, who will take their place? The question is not just about the number of nurses who will take on leadership roles; it is about the preparation required to be successful. Formal succession planning is a crucial part of strategy to ensure that nursing leadership positions, at all levels, are filled with qualified candidates.
