Eugen Steinach (1861-1944) was one of the best known hormone researchers in the early 20th century. Above all he was famous for his work in the field of sexual physiology. Particularly controversial was his method of transplanting testicles under the abdominal wall that was supposed to lead to the patient's rejuvenation.
