Prolonged substitution treatment with thyroid hormones can be one of the causes of osteoporosis. Preliminary results indicate that the risk of the enhanced loss of bone mass in these patients could be apparent from the biochemical indicator of bone reabsorption (urinary hydroxyproline excretion).
