The ultrastructural distribution of hyaluronate in the nasal mucosa of Wistar rats, especially in secretory cells, was examined by hyaluronidase-gold labeling using electron microscopy. The main secretor of hyaluronate in the nasal mucosa was found to be the goblet cells and not the nasal glands.
