This study examined the success of child functioning measures in predicting child outcome for 97 boys with one parent previously hospitalized for psychiatric illness. The best predictors of adaptive functioning at a 3-year follow-up were IQ and clinician ratings based on parent report. Peer and teacher assessments and clinician ratings from interviews were moderately successful.
