[Blood transfusion in cancer of the colon and rectum. Friend or foe of the surgeon? A review].

The article is a critical review of 14 studies on the effect of blood transfusion on recurrence of colo/rectal cancer after operation. Eight studies conclude that a detrimental effect does exist, while six studies deny this. Animal studies are not conclusive. This matter cannot be settled at present.
