The 5-lipoxygenase inhibitor Phenidone inhibits the antigen-induced release of histamine from human basophiles at concentrations of 10(-4) up to 10(-5) mol/l. These findings indicate once more that products of the arachidonic acid metabolism are involved in the induction of histamine release from human basophiles.
