In our study, we aimed to evaluate the plasma homocysteine levels and oxidative stress parameters in patients with adult ADHD (A-ADHD).
Blood samples were taken from 32 A-ADHD patients and 32 controls enrolled in the study and plasma homocysteine, serum folate, vitamin B12, total antioxidant status (TAS), total oxidant status (TOS), and oxidative stress index (OSI) were determined. Results were compared between the groups.
Patients' plasma homocysteine level was significantly lower and serum folate level was significantly higher than the controls. The means of plasma homocysteine and folate levels were statistically significantly different between the groups ( p < .05). However, a statistically significant difference was not detected between groups for mean serum vitamin B12, TAS, TOS, and OSI levels ( p > .05).
Our study suggests that oxidative balance is not impaired in A-ADHD, and contrary to other psychiatric disorders, homocysteine levels were found to be lower.
在我们的研究中,我们旨在评估成人注意力缺陷多动障碍(A-ADHD)患者的血浆同型半胱氨酸水平和氧化应激参数。
采集参与本研究的32例A-ADHD患者和32例对照者的血样,测定血浆同型半胱氨酸、血清叶酸、维生素B12、总抗氧化状态(TAS)、总氧化状态(TOS)和氧化应激指数(OSI)。对两组结果进行比较。
患者的血浆同型半胱氨酸水平显著低于对照组,血清叶酸水平显著高于对照组。两组间血浆同型半胱氨酸和叶酸水平的均值在统计学上有显著差异(p < 0.05)。然而,两组间血清维生素B12、TAS、TOS和OSI水平的均值未检测到统计学上的显著差异(p > 0.05)。
我们的研究表明,A-ADHD患者的氧化平衡未受损,且与其他精神疾病相反,其同型半胱氨酸水平较低。
