Abstract

AIM

The aim of the present study was to evaluation and comparison of intermaxillary tooth size discrepancy among Class I, Class II division 1, and Class III subjects using Bolton's analysis.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

The pre-treatment casts were selected from the records of patients attending the Department of Orthodontics of Meenakshi Ammal Dental College, Chennai. The sample consists of 180 pre-treatment casts with both sexes evenly distributed with 60 casts in each type of malocclusion, i.e., Class I, Class II div 1, and Class III malocclusion. The sample was selected according to angles classification. All patients were Indian nationals, between the age group of 12 to 20 years and Bolton's analysis done on all the casts.

RESULTS

Statistically no significant difference in all types of malocclusion except anterior Bolton's discrepancy in Class III.

CONCLUSION

Mean Bolton's anterior ratio for angles Class III subjects was significantly greater than for Class I and Class II subjects. When Bolton's overall ratio was compared there was no statistically significant difference among Class I, Class II div 1, and Class III malocclusions.

目的

材料与方法

从金奈米纳克希·阿玛尔牙科学院正畸科患者记录中选取治疗前模型。样本包括180个治疗前模型,男女均匀分布,每种错(牙合)类型各60个模型,即安氏Ⅰ类、安氏Ⅱ类1分类和安氏Ⅲ类错(牙合)。样本根据安格尔分类法选取。所有患者均为印度国民,年龄在12至20岁之间,并对所有模型进行了博尔顿分析。

结果

除安氏Ⅲ类的前牙博尔顿差异外,所有类型错(牙合)在统计学上无显著差异。

结论

安氏Ⅲ类受试者的平均博尔顿前牙比率显著高于安氏Ⅰ类和安氏Ⅱ类受试者。当比较博尔顿总比率时,安氏Ⅰ类、安氏Ⅱ类1分类和安氏Ⅲ类错(牙合)之间在统计学上无显著差异。
