The authors examined the quantitative changes in the glycogen content in rat's small intestinal mucosa under the effect of insulin. They found that glycogen content increases significantly during the first 60 minutes, then it decreases gradually, and regains the control value only after 6 hours. It appears that as regards its metabolic activity, the small intestinal mucosa is not an insulin resistant organ.
