Harmonic Focus (HF) is an ultrasonic device developed most recently for thyroid surgery. The aim of this study was to compare the surgical completeness and outcome of total thyroidectomy in two patient groups. One group was treated by HF and one by Conventional Dissection (CD).
Total thyroidectomy was performed in 38 patients with CD, and in 38 patients with HF.
When compared to conventional haemostasis, a reduction was observed in the duration of surgery in the HF group, and the amount of blood loss was reduced by 29%, and 46%, respectively. The number of intraoperative device changes was decreased by 70%. The utilisation of special materials to obtain haemostasis was also significantly decreased. HF was found to be as safe as the conventional haemostasis technique.
Our study has demonstrated the beneficial effects and relative safety of HF in thyroid surgery. Further studies are needed about the financial benefits provided by reductions in human resources, and in materials employed for haemostasis.
谐波聚焦(HF)是一种最近开发用于甲状腺手术的超声设备。本研究的目的是比较两组患者甲状腺全切除术的手术完整性和结果。一组采用HF治疗,另一组采用传统解剖法(CD)治疗。
对38例采用CD治疗的患者和38例采用HF治疗的患者实施甲状腺全切除术。
与传统止血方法相比,HF组手术时间缩短,失血量分别减少了29%和46%。术中器械更换次数减少了70%。用于止血的特殊材料的使用也显著减少。发现HF与传统止血技术一样安全。
我们的研究证明了HF在甲状腺手术中的有益效果和相对安全性。关于人力资源减少以及止血所用材料减少带来的经济效益,还需要进一步研究。
