We herein develop a new strategy that modulates DNA polymerase activity in a reversible and switchable manner by using the novel interactions between DNA bases and metal ions (T-Hg(2+)-T and C-Ag(+)-C) inside a DNA aptamer capable of inhibiting DNA polymerase.
