After the creation of a complex system of emergency medical care in the GDR, the present task is to take further measures to improve its effectiveness, using technical means and staff rationally. This requires consequences for the further development of prehospital emergency aid--especially of the control stations--and for the systemic improvement of the clinical base. An indispensable aspect of this process is postgraduate training of the personnel involved.
