Girdlestone hip arthroplasty, though described as a salvage procedure for infected hip joints, can also be considered for failed Hemiarthroplasty procedures. The functional results of such Girdlestone hip may not be satisfactory. They may require total hip replacement to improve the quality of life, which are technically challenging. Here we are reporting such a case ina 60 year old male patient, with review of literature.
A 60 year old male patient underwent cemented bipolar hemiarthroplasty for fracture neck of femur which failed, owing to improper implantation. Subsequently he underwent Girdlestone arthroplasty which resulted in persistent painful hip. He presented to us in this situation, where we successfully converted the Girdlestone arthroplasty to a Total Hip arthroplasty.
Improper implantation in Hemiarthroplasty fails subsequently. In such cases Girdlestone arthroplasty may be an option to consider, though it may not give requisite relief to patient in some cases. In such situations total hip arthroplasty procedure, though technically challenging will give stable painless hip to the patient.
髋关节Girdlestone成形术虽被描述为感染性髋关节的挽救手术，但对于失败的半髋关节置换手术也可考虑采用。这种Girdlestone髋关节成形术的功能结果可能并不理想。患者可能需要进行全髋关节置换以提高生活质量，而这在技术上具有挑战性。在此，我们报告一例60岁男性患者的病例，并对相关文献进行综述。
一名60岁男性患者因股骨颈骨折接受了骨水泥型双极半髋关节置换术，但由于植入不当手术失败。随后他接受了Girdlestone关节成形术，术后髋关节持续疼痛。在此情况下他前来我院就诊，我们成功地将Girdlestone关节成形术转换为全髋关节置换术。
半髋关节置换术中植入不当会导致手术失败。在这种情况下，Girdlestone关节成形术可能是一种可考虑的选择，尽管在某些情况下可能无法为患者提供所需的缓解。在这种情况下，全髋关节置换手术虽然在技术上具有挑战性，但能为患者提供稳定无痛的髋关节。
