Abstract
Structure 1 is proposed for the Inagami-Tamura endogenous digitalis-like factor (EDLF), and (14β,17α)-14-hydroxy- and (14β, 17α)-2,14-dihydroxyestradiols (2 and 3) were synthesized as models for studies on 1. The latter compound was remarkably potent in inducing a contractile response in isolated rat aorta and guinea pig left atrium.
