The paper emphasizes the importance of prophylactic examinations and expediency of dispensary observation over patients with various eye pathologies in conditions of the in-patients eye office. On the basis of 2089 patients with various eye diseases the authors make a detailed analysis of results of a 5-year observation over a dispensary group of patients (102 persons) with maculodystrophies, aged from 36 to 92 years. With the help of a wide spectrum of medicinal preparations and non-medicamentous treatment stabilization of visual functions could be achieved in 76% of cases of maculodystrophies in patients aged under 60 years and in 65%--above 60 years.
