The assessment of quality is made on the basis of work of the special commission for the reduction of mother's mortality. 2,439 cases of the period 1965-1984 had by factor analyses been examined as to their avoidability. It has been proved that these factors are expressed by general and specialized factors and reflect the components of the prerequisites, performances and results of the care. The components of performances of care are especially expressed by factors of the avoidability of deaths. These are factors of quality strictly speaking, can be incorporated in factors of medical personnels' and patients' behaviour and have a close connection with the claim for medical and social care.
