Endoscopy has become an important technique for the evaluation of patients with inflammatory bowel disease. It is used for the diagnosis as well as for the follow up of the disease. The present article reviews different aspects of intestinal endoscopy with their specific indications in inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Furthermore some new endoscopic findings are shortly described.
