The present study aimed to clarify the expression pattern and prognostic role of miR-409-3p in breast cancer patients.
miR-409-3p levels in breast cancer tissues were tested by qRT-PCR. The chi-square test and Fishers exact tests were used to examine the associations between miR-409-3p expression and the clinicopathological characters. Overall survival (OS) was estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method. The univariable and the multivariable Cox regression analyses were used to evaluate independent prognostic factors.
miR-409-3p expression in breast cancer specimens was observed to be decreased compared with matched normal breast tissues (p < 0.01). Additionally, low miR-409-3p expression in breast cancer tissues was significantly associated with the advanced TNM stage (p = 0.004), lymph node metastasis (p = 0.001), and poorer pathological differentiation (p = 0.026). The patients in the low miR-409-3p group had a shorter overall survival than those in the high miR-409-3p group (p < 0.001). Furthermore, the univariate and the multivariate analyses showed that miR-409-3p expression was an independent predictor of overall survival (p < 0.05).
Our results revealed that miR-409-3p was related to the prognosis of patients with breast cancer and might be a promising predictor of miR-409-3p recurrence.
本研究旨在阐明miR-409-3p在乳腺癌患者中的表达模式及其预后作用。
采用qRT-PCR检测乳腺癌组织中miR-409-3p的水平。采用卡方检验和Fisher精确检验分析miR-409-3p表达与临床病理特征之间的相关性。采用Kaplan-Meier法评估总生存期(OS)。采用单因素和多因素Cox回归分析评估独立预后因素。
与配对的正常乳腺组织相比,乳腺癌标本中miR-409-3p的表达降低(p < 0.01)。此外,乳腺癌组织中低miR-409-3p表达与TNM分期晚期(p = 0.004)、淋巴结转移(p = 0.001)及病理分化较差(p = 0.026)显著相关。低miR-409-3p组患者的总生存期短于高miR-409-3p组(p < 0.001)。此外,单因素和多因素分析均显示miR-409-3p表达是总生存期的独立预测因子(p < 0.05)。
我们的结果表明,miR-409-3p与乳腺癌患者的预后相关,可能是miR-409-3p复发的一个有前景的预测指标。
