Geschwind & Galaburda (1985a,b,c, Archs Neurol., Chicago 42, 428, 521, 634) and Dörner et al. (1983a,b, Expl. Clin. Endocrinol. 81, 88, 83) have hypothesised, respectively, that the testosterone levels to which foetuses are exposed in utero affect postnatal laterality and sexual orientation. A means of testing the two hypotheses jointly is proposed here.
