Sputum examination for detection of P. carinii can be substituted for more invasive techniques especially in debilitated patients. There was an increase level of IgG and IgM in patients with P. carinii pneumonia (PCP) in the serum and sputum. But the high frequency of these immunoglobulins among the general human population limits their value in the diagnosis of pneumocystosis.
检测卡氏肺孢子虫的痰检可替代侵入性更强的技术，尤其是对于身体虚弱的患者。卡氏肺孢子虫肺炎（PCP）患者血清和痰液中的IgG和IgM水平有所升高。但这些免疫球蛋白在普通人群中的高频率存在限制了它们在肺孢子虫病诊断中的价值。
