[The significance of the photostress test for assessing the function of the macular area in chronic alcoholics].

The functional state of the macula was examined by means of a photostress test in 46 patients with chronic alcoholism of stages, I, II and III before and after voluntary treatment in the hospital. The examination showed changes in the macular area in all patients irrespective of the stage. The reversible character of these changes after treatment was recorded only in one patient of the stage I.
