In this study, the antibacterial and cytotoxic activities of isolated compounds from the roots of were investigated. By using different chromatographic techniques and appropriate spectroscopic methods, the seven naphthoquinones were described: deoxyshikonin ( ), isobutyrylshikonin ( ), α-methylbutyrylshikonin ( ), acetylshikonin ( ), β-hydroxyisovalerylshikonin ( ), 5,8--dimethyl isobutyrylshikonin ( ) and 5,8--dimethyl deoxyshikonin ( ). Among the tested compounds, and exhibited the highest antibacterial activities toward all tested bacterial species (MIC and MIC for gram positive bacteria: 6.40 μg/mL-12.79 μg/mL and 6.82 μg/mL-13.60 μg/mL, respectively; for gram negative bacteria: 4.27 μg/mL-8.53 μg/mL and 4.77 μg/mL-9.54 μg/mL, respectively). Also, naphthoquinones and exhibited strong cytotoxic activity against MDA-MB-231 cells (IC values 86.0 μg/mL and 80.2 μg/mL, respectively), while compounds , , and significantly decreased viability of HCT116 cells (IC values of 97.8 μg/mL, 15.2 μg/mL, 24.6 μg/mL and 30.9 μg/mL, respectively). Our results indicated that all tested naphthoquinone pigments are potential candidates for clinical uses as antibacterial and cytotoxic agents.
在本研究中,对从[植物名称]根部分离出的化合物的抗菌和细胞毒性活性进行了研究。通过使用不同的色谱技术和适当的光谱方法,鉴定出了七种萘醌:脱氧紫草素( )、异丁酰紫草素( )、α-甲基丁酰紫草素( )、乙酰紫草素( )、β-羟基异戊酰紫草素( )、5,8 - 二甲基异丁酰紫草素( )和5,8 - 二甲基脱氧紫草素( )。在所测试的化合物中,[两种化合物名称]对所有测试细菌种类均表现出最高的抗菌活性(革兰氏阳性菌的MIC和MIC:分别为6.40μg/mL - 12.79μg/mL和6.82μg/mL - 13.60μg/mL;革兰氏阴性菌的MIC和MIC:分别为4.27μg/mL - 8.53μg/mL和4.77μg/mL - 9.54μg/mL)。此外,萘醌[两种化合物名称]对MDA - MB - 231细胞表现出较强的细胞毒性活性(IC值分别为86.0μg/mL和80.2μg/mL),而化合物[四种化合物名称]显著降低了HCT116细胞的活力(IC值分别为97.8μg/mL、15.2μg/mL、24.6μg/mL和30.9μg/mL)。我们的结果表明,所有测试的萘醌色素都是作为抗菌和细胞毒性剂用于临床的潜在候选物。
